17. TAPE
THEY ARE: Then new band from Justin Warfield, former frontman with the criminally overlooked One Inch Punch and one-time hip-hop prodigy.
THE BUZZ: Despite having been in existence for less than a year Tape- completed by guitarist Kirk Hellie, bassist Thomas Froggatt and Norm Block- are currently the hottest band in LA bar none. A drop-dead cool amalgam of The Strokes. Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine and Zen Guerrilla, they've got the sound and the pedigree.
THEY SAY:"Our energy definitely has a punk rock spirit. It's just not Epitaph punk rock. It's punk rock in the spirit of early CBGB's, where Television and Suicide, the New York Dolls and the Ramones were all punk. It's rock with a lot of texture and atmosphere." Justin Warfield.
WHAT'S NEXT:
In-between batting off the attentions of the music industry, the band are recording their debut EP set for release later this year.
