In light
of the recent/several date changes for the Meow Meow gig - March
2nd, to state what might seem obvious... It would behoove those
who might want to be notified about such changes etc. to submit
their e-mail address to this website (submission
field in bottom frame). For instance: Here's an update
that might affect a few people. Instead of being $7 to get into
the Echo. The cover is FREE for those over 21 and $5 for those
under 21. The club is 18 and over.
February

note: the date has been changed AGAIN
to Thur. March 2nd.

writing more songs (when isn't he?).
hmm... is that really news?
Hope to see
you all at the Echo.
Leave a message
for Kirk (on the contact page).
November
13, 2005
Kirk's got
a gig coming up check out the calendar.
October 30, 2005
Welcome to
the new and hopefully improved Kirk Hellie website. It was
long past due
and quite a little undertaking. Digging up
discography/details, video, going through archives of audio,
video, pictures etc. The look is quite a bit different. It'll
be interesting
to
see how long this "what is it? blue?" color lasts
before it gets changed to more muted and earthly dark tones.
So you
can suffer/enjoy this
background color with us.
There's a
lot more to see here these days. And hopefully there'll be more
frequent
updates/ rotating audio/video and more pictures.
So, for those
of you who were just here yesterday, you will remember this being
the page
to go to for info on where Kirk was playing and where. Well,
that
is not case anymore. There's a new section for that called "calendar".
It is there you will find either nothing or hopefully a listing
of where you can find kirk doing what he loves... hmm... hard
to figure out where performing ranks on his favorites list. Well,
it's in the top five anyhow. For the purpose of history/naustalgia,
we're leaving up the six months of "news" including
the dates of his last performances. Anything older than six months
will be located in the Archived News section at the
bottom of this page.
Any photographs of past
events that might have been found here have been moved to the
gallery.
So on with the news already...
Meow Meow has an album
available via CD Baby. If you don't know about them. He's a little
info. They are a company that helps make available music of the
independant musician. They take a fair cut and handle the shipping.
The rest of sale goes to the artist. It's a great of discovering
music that would otherwise not be available for listen or purchase.
So Kirk's/Meow Meow's "Snow Gas Bones" is available to listen
to in it's entirety as well as purchase it if you'd like. We're
also working together to make other albums and perhaps unreleased
music that you'd only have heard live or if you were a guest
during the recording of it. The "merch" link on the navigational
bar will take you directly to Meow Meow's "Snow Gas Bones". The
label Meow Meow was on is no more. So once these CDs are gone,
there won't be any more. I'd like to think otherwise but that'll
be the case for a long time. So get'm while the gettin' is good.
More news...
Meow Meow has been busy
recording since late December 2004. There are 25 odd tracks to
choose from for the next album for which the band is shopping
to various labels. The recordings were done at Regeneration (Kirk's
home Studio in Hollywood at the Committee to Keep Music Evil
Headquarters w/Rob Campenella (in Hollywood) and most recently
with producer/engineer Eddie Ashworth (who Kirk has had a long
recording history with since Pink Noise Test) in Athens, Ohio.
Thanks to everyone who went out and purchased the debut "Snow
Gas Bones. Meow Meow hope to find a home for the new album and
have it come out next year. Look to the Cal section for when
upcomming dates are posted.
Kirk also has plans for
doing some acoustic based solo shows as well as resuming live
shows with Edward J. Nervo as Caveat Emptor in the coming months.
The knitting factory alterknit
lounge as well as the good hurt set lists will feature several of
the slower/ambient tracks on snow gas bones as
well as several for the next record. You know, still "poppy."..but
in MORE of a heroin way..........
